Common Proton Mail problems and how to fix them

Account recovery

Recovery only works if you set a recovery email/phrase in advance — Proton can't read your encrypted mailbox to reset it for you. Set recovery methods now under Settings.

Can't log in

Check you're using the correct Proton address and password (not your recovery email). Reset via your recovery method if enabled.

Billing or subscription

Manage plans under Settings → Subscription; submit a ticket via the contact form for refunds within the eligible window.

Custom domain setup

Follow the domain wizard under Settings → Domains and add the DNS records exactly; propagation can take a few hours.
